Removing barriers to creativity through collaborative action
Liloquy, Incorporated is an Atlanta, Georgia based nonprofit focused on helping people unleash their creativity and become better storytellers. We provide access, guidance, support, and resources to writers of all levels, regardless of circumstance or zip code. We believe all should have the opportunity to develop their creative potential.
We help people explore and understand the stories around them. We empower participants to tell their stories in ways most authentic to them. We help rappers rap, singers sing, writers write, and many more.
We offer programs for youth and adults. We provide mentorship, critique groups, workshops, and events across the Atlanta metro area. We work with schools, libraries, youth detention centers, and other nonprofit organizations to provide tailored events, programs, and publications. We collaborate to increase opportunity.
WE ARE STORYTELLERS
We empower people to discover their story by sharing ours. We introduce people to some of the greatest storytellers. We show them how stories are created and help them create unique stories of their own. We embrace storytelling as a way of closing the gap in access to the arts and creative expression. Our model consists of three equally important components: Expectation, Exploration, and Expression.
TOGETHER WE CREATE
We care about people, places, and ideas. We care about ourselves and others. We nourish safe spaces for creative expression. We focus on learning about the world around us and ourselves. We explore the new and the old. We challenge conventions and push boundaries. We create new words, new stories, new emotions. We create understanding. We create new expression.
We facilitate a series of workshops focused various aspects of creative expression. Our workshops focus on:
- Poetry, Prose, Fiction, Creative Nonfiction
- Lyrics, Bars, Flow
- Outlining, Revising, Editing
- Submission, Publication, Publishing
We partner with local schools, detention centers, libraries, and community centers to bring workshops where they are needed most. We also promote the participation in programs offered throughout the community by other organizations. If there is a particular need not being provided, we collaborate with partners to fill the gaps.
We believe the best way to nurture creativity is through collaboration and fellowship. Our mentorship advocacy helps connect creatives to others in their communities through a matching program for one on one partnerships and small groups. We provide support and guidance to foster trust and help build confidence among mentors and mentees, recognizing such titles are interchangeable. We sponsor a series of activities and programs to aid in building relationships and productive partnerships.
We provide opportunities for creatives to share and promote their work. We promote publication in print and online journals. We also provide opportunities to participate and learn about the publication process through involvement with our print journal, Be – Journal of Creative Expression. We encourage and promote the submission of work to outlets around the globe and provide education on the submission process. We help creatives find homes for their ideas and work.

WAYS TO SUPPORT
We offer programs and activities to under-served groups that lack access to literary and creative opportunities. We do not turn away people who seek to participate and will often tailor programs to meet creatives where they’re at. We seek to be inclusive and to serve those who cannot afford paid programs or feel excluded. To fulfill this goal, we expend the resources required and rely heavily on volunteer support. We want all voices to be heard and to transform more lives. Here are some ways you can help. Please contact us to discuss. Thank you in advance for supporting creatives.
